In the middle of the rain forest

In the middle of the rain forest is an investigation around the invention of Australia, or on the concept of Australia.

I have spent sometimes in Belligen, a small town where my sister lives in the region of the New South Wales, in Australia. This area is the most coveted and densely populated.

Colonization starts from shaping a place by following an imaginary and “the connection between geography and imagination is what makes Australia an unique place” (Ronald Vare Tooley). Australia is perceived as the dreams place, it is the Western world moved in a wild and exotic land. But the impact is much more profound, and throughout a closer inspection you realize that the representation of space and places is deeply linked with the violent construction of a 'national identity'.
